New Labour administration committed to integrity, ethics; Douglas says SKNLP welcomes disgruntled PAMites

Basseterre, St Kitts, May 21, 2019 – A new St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party administration is serious about integrity, ethics and good governance as enshrined in the Code of Ethics adopted at the just concluded 87th Annual National Conference.
National Political Leader and former prime minister the Rt Hon Dr Denzil L Douglas told over 400 delegates and invited guests that with the signing of the Code of Ethics by the candidates, it is a signal that the SKNLP is serious about putting its own house in order first and ensures that it will do the same when it takes back the reigns of leadership in this country.
“This is our commitment to you, the members of the St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party and the beloved people of St Kitts and Nevis. The St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party is serious about our duties, dedication and obligations to the people. We have a powerful legacy behind us and a strong track record to stand on,” said Dr Douglas, who added that the SKNLP “is not a patched up Party.”
“We are the only truly unified Party that exists in St Kitts. Our Party welcomes people from all walks of life and across the political divide to join us in securing a better future for ourselves, for the Next Generation, and for future generations. This is not a marriage of convenience just to win votes. Our NextGen Dream Team has one vision and will speak with a single voice in moving this country forward into a NEXTGEN. One vision, one voice, one leader, one people, one purpose,”,” declared the seven-term parliamentarian.
Without making direct reference to the disgruntled supporters of the PAM – the largest party with four seats in the Team Unity coalition, Dr Douglas said the SKNLP welcomes “PAM supporters who have been abandoned by their toothless representatives and are discriminated against by a Government that they worked so hard to put in place.”
“We welcome our entrepreneurs and business owners who suffer from unfair competition through the fraudulent preferences given to businesses of friends and family of members of the Government. We welcome our own brother and sisters who left the Labour Party through guile and deception, but who have been betrayed, trampled upon and pushed aside. We still have a place for you here in the NEXTGEN Labour Party,” said Dr Douglas, who was re-elected as the SKNLP National Political Leader during the business session.
