Rt. Hon. Dr Denzil Douglas, leader of the Parliamentary Opposition of St Kitts-Nevis, has been compelled yet again to file a police report regarding veiled threats issued against him.

Earlier this week, social media and Facebook blogger, Everton Elliott drew attention to a statement Dr Douglas made concerning the Labour Party’s intention to challenge the removal of up to 20,000 citizens from the voters’ list.

In a post on his Facebook profile “Everton Powell” on July 25th 2018, Elliott said “Douggie promise to vigorously challenge Tim & UNITY plan to remove up to 20000 SKN citizens from Voters List!”

Known People’s Labour Party (PLP) activist, PLP Youth representative, and reported campaign manager for PLP Senator Akilah Nisbett, Damian Weekes, whose Facebook name is “Weekes Yah,” responded underneath the post by commenting “Douggie won’t be around Everton trust me.”

Dr Douglas has been the target of similarly veiled threats on social media in the recent past. Just shy of two years ago in September of 2016, Facebook personality ‘Mable Richards’, an obvious government mouthpiece, stated in a Facebook posting that “I want to tell Denzil Douglas and the misguided few that this is not 93. Team Unity and Mable is prepared to die for this government….Its a while we haven’t had a state funeral, so let him mobilize because Mable Richards will neutralize.”

Back then, Dr Douglas also made a formal report to the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force as he was and still is of the view that such dark sentiments are not to be dismissed or trivialised.

To date, there has been no indication that the threat issued by Mable Richards has been or is being investigated by the Police. It remains to be seen if the Police will investigate this newest veiled threat issued in plain view by Damian Weekes against Dr Douglas.
